Our Story

The history of our church is a story of God’s perfect plan played out in His perfect timing. Our story begins with a group of 20 people in a living room on the south side of Indianapolis praying for a Harvest Bible Chapel to be planted in the area. It was the faithful prayers of this group of people that tilled the ground and prepared the way for the powerful work the Lord has done in our church.

In the Spring of 2014, God brought two pastors and their wives from Crawfordsville, Indiana to Greenwood to join together with those 20 or so people from Indy’s south side. Their call was clear—plant a church that stands firmly on the Word of God and takes seriously the call to make disciples. A core group of roughly 30-40 people began meeting each Sunday night in February of 2015, and on September 13, 2015, Harvest Bible Chapel Indy South launched as a church.

On July 5th, 2020, we officially changed our name to Redeemer Bible Church to provide more clarity on who we are as a local church, and who God has called us to be:

We are all about Jesus, the Redeemer - since we were planted, we have gathered to worship Jesus Christ. Through prayer, we wanted our name to represent, not ourselves or the work we do, but the Lord and the work He has done and is doing to redeem a people for himself. We gather to worship the Redeemer.

We stand firm on God's Word, the Bible - we believe in the power of preaching directly from scripture. It is fully trustworthy as our authority for all of life. We will always be grounded in God's Word and will always rely on His wisdom rather than our own.

We are His Church - We are a local expression of Christ-followers, a worshiping family on mission together. We gather together to worship the Lord, to build one another up in love, and represent Christ to the world. Our greatest desire is to see Jesus form a community of people living The 4W Life (Worshiping, Walking, Working, and Witnessing for Jesus).

We believe firmly in the power of worship, the Word, prayer, and witness. God has called us to glorify Him through the fulfillment of the Great Commission. As we’ve done the best we can to hold to these core commitments, it’s been incredible to see God be faithful to His promise in Matthew 16:18 - “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” He has done the real work of building His church as the people of Redeemer Bible Church have been faithful to His calling.

For our first six years, we gathered in the cafeteria at Clark Pleasant Middle School, before God graciously entrusted to us our first facility as a church on October 3, 2021. We call the building located at 1360 Ray Crowe Way in Greenwood, Indiana our “Sending Base,” because by God’s grace many will come to know Jesus, grow up in Jesus, and be sent out by Jesus for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. As God leads you, come join us on this story that God is writing through Redeemer.
